Program Director - Intermediate Care Facilities
Job Purpose:
As a Program Director at HMC, you will play a key leadership role in shaping and maintaining high standards for our programs, policies, and procedures. You will ensure that all services are delivered in a person-centered, compassionate, and compliant manner. This role includes oversight of assigned location(s), with a strong focus on supporting and empowering both the individuals we serve and the teams who care for them.
The ideal candidate meets the qualifications of a Designated Manager and/or a Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP), and brings a passion for fostering meaningful outcomes in community-based support services.
Location: Onsite - Mankato, MN 56001
Salary and Schedule:
- Salary: $68,000-75,000 annual salary, depending on experience.
- Typically, Monday – Friday, day hours with possible evening/weekend hours as needed based on the needs of staff and the individuals served.
Key Responsibilities: - Provide leadership and oversight to assigned program location(s), ensuring delivery of high-quality, person-centered services.
- Develop, implement, and maintain program policies and procedures to support effective and compliant operations.
- Ensure full compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including DHS and MDH rules and licensing standards.
- Supervise and support staff through coaching, performance evaluations, regular meetings, and ongoing training; promote a respectful and collaborative team environment.
- Lead quality assurance efforts, including staffing reviews, chart audits, outcome tracking, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain open, professional communication with individuals served, families, guardians, case managers, and regulatory partners.
- Oversee program development, including admissions, discharges, service contracts, and billing to ensure accurate documentation and financial responsibility.
- Monitor and manage program capacity, staff training timelines, and operational effectiveness.
- Advocate for the rights and well-being of individuals in all aspects of daily life—home, work, and community.
- Support strategic initiatives, participate in budget planning, and contribute to agency-wide leadership efforts.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, Positive Support rules, safety protocols, and active treatment standards.
- Remain current on best practices, regulatory changes, and professional trends affecting service delivery.
Qualifications:Program Director must have bachelor’s degree in a human service-related field or licensure as a Registered Nurse and QIDP designation with five years of programmatic and supervisory experience. Experience in a residential setting in a leadership/supervisory position is preferred. This position requires a valid Driver’s License and pass a driving record check conducted by our insurance carrier.- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with individuals, support teams, case managers, family members, and co-workers.
- Must be self-motivated and exhibit strong interpersonal communication skills, able to problem solve and respond effectively to emergency situations.
- Must have an advanced knowledge of technology programs. IE: Outlook, Excel, Word, Adobe, PowerPoint and have prior knowledge or be willing to learn any applicable technology systems.
- Ability to work with colleagues and work independently to carry out job duties as assigned.
- Display exceptional documentation skills, knowledge of systems, routines and programming.
- Must pass the MN Department of Human Services Background Study.
