Program Director – Faribault

Harry Meyering Center supports people with developmental and intellectual disabilities in their homes and communities.

Location: Faribault

Schedule: Typically, Monday – Friday, business hours with possible evening/weekend hours as needed based on the needs of staff and the individuals served.

Job Summary:
The Program Director is responsible for setting the standards for individual program and related policies and procedures at Harry Meyering Center, ensuring that all services and supports are delivered in a person-centered manner. The Program Director provides oversight of the assigned location(s), offering assistance, support, and encouragement to meet the needs of individuals served by Harry Meyering Center. This position requires meeting the criteria of a Designated Manager and/or QIDP.

Wage: $74,000 to $80,000 annual salary, depending on experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure high-quality, person-centered services for individuals served.
  • Develop and implement program policies and procedures to ensure effective operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, including DHS and MDH rules.
  • Maintain communication with persons served, family members, guardians, case managers, and state officials.
  • Implement a quality management program that includes staffing, training, chart audits, and program evaluations.
  • Monitor and ensure programs are at full capacity.
  • Develop service contracts, ensure proper signatures, and manage billing processes.
  • Evaluate satisfaction of persons served and stakeholders, responding to feedback.
  • Supervise, coach, and provide performance reviews for direct reports.
  • Lead staff meetings, training sessions, and in-service events.
  • Coordinate program development, expansion, and evaluations.
  • Act as primary liaison for reporting and investigations, ensuring follow-up actions.
  • Advocate for individuals’ rights in various settings.
  • Participate in budget creation, monitor financial status, and ensure resource allocation.
  • Coordinate admission and discharge processes.
  • Educate staff and individuals on eligibility for entitlement programs.
  • Maintain awareness of health, medical issues, and emergency protocols.
  • Foster a positive program image and maintain team-oriented work culture.
  • Engage in professional development and special projects aligned with strategic goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications – Program Director:
  • Must meet the criteria of a Designated Manager per MN Statute 245D.
  • Minimum of three years of supervisory experience in a program providing direct support services to persons with disabilities or persons age 65 and older, AND:
    • A bachelor’s degree in a human services, education, or health-related field with one year of experience providing direct care services, or equivalent experience;
    • OR an associate degree with two years of experience providing direct care services;
    • OR a diploma with three years of experience providing direct care services;
    • OR 50 hours of education and training in human services and disabilities with four years of full-time experience under the supervision of a qualified staff member.
  • Proof of degree or education required with official transcripts.
  • Competency to perform required duties as per the education and training requirements outlined above.
General Qualifications:
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and pass a driving record check conducted by our insurance carrier.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with individuals, support teams, case managers, family members, and coworkers.
  • Must be self-motivated and exhibit strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.
  • Advanced knowledge of technology programs (Outlook, Excel, Word, Adobe, PowerPoint) and willingness to learn any applicable technology systems.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with colleagues to complete job duties.
  • Strong documentation skills and understanding of systems, routines, and programming.
  • Must pass the MN Department of Human Services Background Study.
