Summary: The Dietary Manager manages high quality, effective dietary services provided by HMC. Will be responsible for interacting and communicating with individuals, understanding health concerns and dietary requirements and ensuring food preparation follows strict health guidelines. Will assist to train new employees to become fully contributing team members; and help maintain employee moral that reflects the values of HMC. Exhibits objectivity and openness to others’ views; gives and welcomes feedback; supports everyone’s efforts to succeed.
Location: Mankato, Minnesota.
Wage: Annual Salary of $47,840 to $62,000, depending on experience.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Identifies and resolves problems with creative solutions, while promoting a supportive, safe, team-oriented work environment.
Oversees food preparation, ensures health safety, monitors dietary status, and supervises staff to ensure compliance with dietary orders, safe food storage, and preparation temperatures.
Meets monthly with dietitian, updates and presents dietary policies to the Program Director, and coordinates food service at two other ICF locations.
Trains direct care staff on dietary procedures, promotes cooking opportunities for social interaction, and plans for disaster-related dietary needs in ICF and CRS programs.
Prepares meals for meetings and luncheons as requested, interacts respectfully with individuals served, and supports their dietary needs.
Ensures kitchen cleanliness, safety, and completes required trainings and in-services.
Prepares meals based on dietary needs, pursues professional growth, and conducts annual performance reviews for direct reports.
Delivers groceries and supplies in all weather, maintains HIPAA compliance, and follows health and safety policies.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or general education degree required.
Current certification as a Dietary Manager, or willingness to obtain certification. Harry Meyering Center will be able to assist with obtaining certification.
Experience in institutional cooking required.
Supervisory experience preferred.
Experience with persons with developmental disabilities preferred.
Must have demonstrated the ability to be a role model for co-workers and individuals in all areas.
Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with individuals, support teams, and co-workers.
Ability to train effectively, model professionalism, have a strong work ethic, organizational skills, and must be punctual.
Must be self-motivated and exhibit strong interpersonal communication skills, able to problem solve and respond effectively to emergency situations.
Must demonstrate ability to facilitate conflict resolution among staff and persons served, with a general knowledge of behavioral concepts.
Displays passion and optimism, inspires respect and trust.
Displays a positive attitude towards the job and must exhibit strong advocacy skills.
Must have a valid Driver’s License and pass a driving record check conducted by our insurance carrier.
Must work with colleagues and demonstrate the ability to work independently to carry out job duties as assigned.
Must pass a MN Department of Human Services Background Study.
