The Direct Support Professional Float (DSPF) provides compassionate support, assistance, and encouragement to individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities served by Harry Meyering Center. This role requires a high level of flexibility, as DSPF staff fill shifts across multiple program locations based on organizational needs. Services are delivered in individuals’ homes and within the community. Depending on the site, shifts may include awake-overnight or partial-sleep schedules.
This position requires open availability and the ability to work full-time.
Parameters for this position include the ability to work at multiple locations. Hours will vary week-to-week. Must be able to arrive and be prepared to work within 1 (one) hour of notification of shift. Shifts will not be longer than 16 hours with at least 8 hours between shifts. Will be scheduled for up to 40 hours per week. If no direct care work is available to reach 40 hours, the employee will complete other tasks related to the organization to fill hours.
Location: Greater Mankato area, with locations in North Mankato, Mankato, and Eagle Lake.
Schedule: Full-time, varying shifts, with on-call schedule.
Wage: $24.00 (Full-Time) per hour after completion of training, $22.00 per hour starting, with additional shift differentials in specific locations.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide respectful, professional support and supervision to individuals with disabilities.
- Remain on call up to 5 days per week and work at least 40 hours weekly.
- Work flexibly across all program locations and cover any shift, including weekends and overnights.
- Assist with daily living needs such as meals, personal hygiene, and household tasks.
- Support participation in community and leisure activities and encourage healthy lifestyles.
- Administer medications and assist with medical appointments as needed.
- Maintain clean, safe home environments.
- Complete all required documentation accurately and on time.
- Attend meetings, complete required trainings, and maintain HIPAA compliance.
- Follow all health and safety policies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

- Must be 18 and have a high school diploma or general education degree.
- Prior experience or training is required, and having experience as a CNA, PCA, Caregiver, DSP, or healthcare-related professional is preferred for a minimum of 6 months to 1 year.
- This position requires a valid United States driver’s license and to pass a driving record check conducted by our insurance carrier unless otherwise noted.
- Must be detail-oriented in the completion of job tasks and able to adequately cover shifts at any program location once training is completed.
- Must be able to work at any time while on-call, including early mornings and awake overnights.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills - with a strong command of the English language - including the ability to effectively communicate with individuals, support teams, and co-workers.
- Must be self-motivated, exhibit strong interpersonal communication skills, and be able to solve problems and respond effectively to emergencies.
- Must have a basic knowledge of technology programs. IE: Microsoft Office products. Be able to use and/or be willing to learn technology for daily charting.
- Displays a positive attitude towards the job.
- Must exhibit strong advocacy skills.
- Must work with colleagues and demonstrate the ability to work independently to carry out job duties as assigned.
- Must pass an MN Department of Human Services Background Study.
