Administrative Accountant

Join our team as an Administrative Accountant and be a driving force in ensuring the efficiency and accuracy of our financial operations, ultimately contributing to our mission of supporting and empowering individuals with developmental disabilities.

Schedule: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

Wage: Starting at $25.00 per hour.

Location: On-Site - HMC office located in Mankato, Minnesota.

Responsibilities:

  • Produce high-quality, accurate work and adeptly identify and rectify errors while meeting deadlines.
  • Generate client invoices using the billing system and perform bank reconciliations.
  • Input vendor invoices into the accounting system, verify accuracy, and maintain updated vendor information.
  • Scan accounts payable documents into the electronic workflow/document storage database.
  • Ensure timely payment of bills to avoid penalties and capitalize on discounts, reconciling vendor invoices and statements.
  • Generate computerized accounts payable checks and/or electronic funds transfers, addressing vendor inquiries regarding payment.
  • Uphold HIPAA compliance in all internal and external communications and adhere to health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Foster effective relationships with the Board, staff, and individuals.
  • Perform other assigned duties as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with accounting procedures and experience with accounting software programs, such as Financial Edge.
  • Ability to process business transactions and manage accounts receivable, receipts, and other financial matters.
  • Proven accounting experience is required; a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business is preferred. Experience within these fields can be considered in place of a degree.
  • Self-motivated, with strong interpersonal communication skills and problem-solving abilities, and an advanced knowledge of technology programs, including Microsoft Office products.
  • Proficient in analyzing financial records, transferring information accurately, and displaying a positive attitude, openness to constructive criticism, and tact in interactions.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and work independently to fulfill job duties.
  • A valid driver’s license and clear driving record are required, along with successfully completing an MN Department of Human Services Background Study.
